There are many different types of exercises that can be used to improve your footy skills players including zig zag, catch or control, with a kick to the knee, simulated gambling, small-sided games and many others.

Speed and agility to play an important role in football so that the good sense to have a series of exercises that are specific to that area.

All exercises should be designed to help players develop the skills they will need in game competition. After your performance enhancement, injury prevention, rock-solid strength and speed.Below are a small list of the best equipment commonly used in soccer speed and agility training.

  • Step Hurdles – These are a great aid for increasing foot speed and knee lift. There are a whole range of hurdles with many different shapes and sizes to suit a particular style of drill. They are perfect for practicing forward and lateral movement.
  • Power Chute – This mini parachute uses air resistance as a way of strengthening the user as they run.This training aid will help with speed, stride length, explosiveness and acceleration.
  • Resistor Bands – These isolate and condition the muscles there by improving on speed and quickness. They can be considered far more productive than using weights, especially for speed drills. A good training program will improve running, jumping and kicking.
  • Agility Cones – These are used to test speed, explosion, body control, agility and Plyometric drills. A great tool for indoors and outdoors.
  • Power Sled – This piece of equipment is very versatile and is used for improving not only explosive power but strength, balance and stabilization. You can use them by themselves or in combination with weights, cables, bands, etc..
  • Speed Ladder – These are considered to be one of the most important pieces of speed and agility equipment. They are used in football to improve speed, balance, co-ordination, agility and quickness.

With only two or three of these devices can increase the speed considerably and become more agile. Integrating this with a great training program and be on track to beat the competition.

A closer look at your training and try to include as many different types of speed training possible. Do your standard exercises in footy and make sure you incorporate different speed and agility drills to your workouts.
